I'd rather be dumped

I've decided that if I had to choose between being injured and getting dumped by a boyfriend, I'd choose the latter.  Not that anyone's giving me that choice... I'm just sayin'.  I was reading some articles on dealing with injuries this week, and one of them talked about the grieving process that athletes go through when they get injured. It made me feel slightly less crazy and more normal.  At least there are other athletes out there who have as much trouble with this emotionally as I do!

I'm now at 6 weeks of PT, with no running, cycling, walking, elliptical, etc. You get the picture. So I've been swimming with the pull buoy and doing lots of core and upper body weights.  I'm still having a LOT of low back pain, and long with pain in the right hip area.  So, so frustrating.  Some days it's better, some days it's worse, and I can't seem to figure out the pattern.  Back to the doctor next week.

Everything I've read says staying positive helps you recover faster, so I'm TRYING with all my emotional might to stay positive.  It takes a lot of effort sometimes!

  2. Okay so I have to go back and read your older posts to see what happened but I so understand. You just recently visited my blog...which I am glad because now we have someone that is going throught the same crap.

It really is hard especially when all you want to do is something anything to help relieve the stress that you can't do ANYTHING! I am going to get the script for the second MRI on monday...i'm scared something will be wrong with my hip. What does your pain feel like?

  3. I totally agree, I'd rather get dumped than get injured and not be able to exercise. :) Thanks for visiting my new little blog.

  4. Uggggh, I hear ya! Injury is hard! Especially when you have worked so hard for a goal! I'm dealing with this now but trying to keep it on the down low and hoping it isn't anything serious. I so want this marathon after a complete hamstring tear in August that kept me from my October marathon. thinking of you and hoping you recover fast!

  5. Are you still injured? I saw a post that you submitted on SUAR. A friend and I did the Combat Triathlon on May in Texas city on May 28. We are coming over to do the Sugarland Tri June 26th. Might be a good one for you to do to get back in.
